Meta faces a perfect storm

With Twitter becoming a train wreck, many, including myself, are actively looking for alternatives. Here is what I am interested in.

The mood about the Metaverse is decidedly darker. Virtually every recent article has dark overtones, stock prices have plummeted, the NFT market (which is seen as a key Metaverse enabling technology) has collapsed.

The US Senate bill mobilizing serious efforts across the DoD and IC to collect, understand, and replicate unidentified phenomena in the air, space, and under the sea.

Congress is about to hold its first public hearing on UFOs (UAPs) in over 50 years. I’ve written questions I hope are asked and answered. I’ve also included questions by Christopher Mellon and Avi Loeb.

Another AR game shuts down. Microsoft’s 3D plans are in disarray. Meta’s Reality Labs is losing buckets of money, and the cash to fund those losses got a little tighter.

Meta plans to sell their headsets at or below costs. As John Carmack later said, “There’s no profit in the headset.”
